Adult Sunday School Classes:
Explorers - A group of friends who gather in Room 105 of the West Wing on Sunday mornings at 9:15. The first followers of Jesus were called 'people of the way.' Our aim as Explorers is to claim that spirit. We feel a call to balance the tension between traditional and progressive ways of looking at our Christian faith. Each Sunday we carefully examine the Bible passages laid out for that day by the Revised Common Lectionary. Sustained by those ancient, brilliant, and sometimes puzzling texts, we try to situate them in their context: Who wrote them? When? With what aim? And we introduce topics relevant to who we are today: human beings made in the image of God, trying to develop the mindset of Jesus as we live out his teachings. We invite you to join our exploration.
Harvesters - This class meets in room 110 and enjoys great lessons, thought provoking conversation, mutual support, and laughter. The Harvesters are active participants in various missions throughout the year. These include: Trinity Army, Some Other Place, Southeast Texas Food Bank, and others.
HAMACO - Couples and singles form a warm, easy-going group that enjoys a weekly study on specific scripture. This class is taught in a lecture format and meets in Vivion Hall.
Lamplighters - This class is composed of couples and individuals in the 40-50 age range. The class encourages personal spiritual growth through study, fellowship, hands-on mission projects, and caring support. The class meets in room 103 in the West Wing.
