Dear Trinity Family, we are now four Sundays in to our in-person return to campus for 10:30 a.m. worship. Let me reiterate some of what I shared last week. Each week we have good attendance with all the health protocols in place to care for one another. Vivion Hall is an ideal location for families to worship together. The service is live-streamed and there is plenty of room for children to roam. Let me briefly share our thinking on phasing in other Sunday morning activities:

  1. We are now focused on our 10:30 hour of worship together. We want to do this for a few weeks to make sure it is working well.
  2. Childcare. We have protocols already in place to hold childcare largely outside, weather permitting, with childcare staff wearing masks, and spacing observed. We hope to initiate this in the next few weeks, date still to be determined.
  3. Sunday School. We are already thinking through campus room possibilities for each class that allows room for physical spacing. Phasing in Sunday school will require space being ready, all classes having an option for meeting, and teachers being ready and prepared to return. For now, we highly encourage other forms of meeting which some have done – Zoom video times, outdoor meeting, fellowship times etc.

We are committed to carrying out ministry with excellence, using the gifts God has given us on campus, and caring for one another in the process. Please hold leaders in prayer for wisdom, and we thank you for your grace and patience during this time.

It is absolutely wonderful seeing faces in worship both on Sundays and Wednesdays. Our combined attendance each week averages 115. This is roughly 40% of our pre-pandemic average worship attendance. As I talk with pastoral colleagues and their experiences, this attendance is really strong in this season. Let’s keep growing and growing in a healthy manner. Praise the Lord.

Grace and peace,
Pastor Tommy

Oasis Updates - Our wonderful Oasis Ministry has been faithfully serving many of our seniors in need for many years. Melanie Hall has led this program with excellence. As you can imagine, the pandemic and related restrictions have made it next to impossible to continue this program as we know it. After trying different approaches with much discernment, Melanie has decided to step away from directing and we jointly decided to allow the Oasis Program to lay dormant for a while until we can see clearly the future God has for this kind of ministry in the middle of our health climate. We remain committed and open to what that can look like in the future. Please join me in thanking God for Oasis and for Melanie.

Youth Re-Launch:
On June 16, 2020 a small team began meeting to plan for the future of Trinity's Youth Ministry. This Re-Launch Team consists of Melanie Leonard, Paul Booker, Ryan Mitchell, Emma Kindwall, Dee Hardy, Tyler Dupree, and Dr. Steve Jenkins, along with Jill Frantz and Pastors Tommy and David. The team began by surveying current and former youth members, community members, future youth members, and Trinitarians to develop a robust understanding of where we are. The team is moving through a process of visioning and goal setting to make plans for a launch date. This is the game plan for a new season of ministry! We are asking you to be in prayer for our Re-Launch team and Youth Ministry as we seek the Lord's will for our future.
