This week in our summer series, “Blessed to Be a Blessing,” we continue with the story of Abraham and Sarah in Genesis 18 and 21. God’s promise comes to them after years of waiting, when hope seems nearly impossible and Sarah can only laugh. Yet the God who calls is also the God who keeps promises. Join us as we consider what it means to trust God’s faithfulness, live as people of promise, and believe that God can still bring joy and life where we thought the story was finished.

This Sunday, we begin a new summer sermon series through Genesis, Blessed to Be a Blessing. In Genesis 12:1–9, God calls Abram to step out in faith—not only to receive God’s blessing, but to become a blessing to the world. As we gather for worship and Holy Communion, we will consider where God may be calling us, both individually and as a church, to trust God’s grace and share God’s love with others.

This Sunday is Trinity Sunday, and at Trinity United Methodist Church we will ask a question rooted in both our name and our calling: "Why would a church name itself Trinity?" Using Psalm 8 and Matthew 28:16–20, we will reflect on what it means to be a people who honor the dignity of every person, follow the risen Christ into mission, and live in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This Sunday is Pentecost Sunday, the day we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit and the birth of the church. We are grateful to welcome Rev. Kyle Trembly as our guest preacher in worship at 10:30 am. Kyle serves as the pastor/director of the Wesley Foundation at Lamar University, helping college students grow in faith, community, and service. Join us as we give thanks for the Spirit who continues to breathe life into the church and send us into the world as witnesses of God’s love.

Join us for Confirmation Sunday on May 17 at Trinity United Methodist Church as we celebrate and pray for those being confirmed in their faith. This will be a meaningful morning in the life of our church as we give thanks for God’s work in these students and affirm them in their journey of discipleship. On Sunday, May 10, Trinity will celebrate Senior Sunday during worship at 10:30 am as we give thanks for our graduating seniors and pray for them as they take this next step in life. This is always a special Sunday in the life of our church as we recognize and bless those who are graduating.
